Do you like to know what the Nyonya and Baba are doing in Singapore ?

The community of Peranakan still very active for continuing the programmes of their culture.

You can know more about their programmes by contacting them below.

Let's chakap chakap with the President (July 2023)

In this month’s video, The Peranakan Association Singapore President Nyonya Genevieve Peggy Jeffs is joined by Baba Clement Onn, Deputy Director of Curatorial and Research at the Asian Civilisations Museum and The Peranakan Museum (TPM) and Nyonya Stella Clare Wee, a member of TPAS’ General Committee. In this video, Baba Clement talks about his upcoming exhibition Manila Galleon: from Asia to the Americas in November 2023. He describes the trade between the Philippines and Mexico over 250 years and highlights the trade of chillies from Mexico to Asia. He questions what we would have in our sambals, without chilli. Baba Clement also discusses his plans to have an exhibition of the Three Indonesian Batik Sisters sometime next year, date to be confirmed. Nyonya Stella shares that the first adult kebaya workshop is planned for 2 Sept 2023 (Sat) at TPM, following the success of the kebaya workshop for anaks held earlier this year. Members who are parents of school-going children will be pleased to learn that exciting programmes for our anaks are being planned for the year-end school holidays. I wish to cordially invite all to come watch TPAS’ second run of “In the Mood for Kebaya” parade on 20 Oct 2023, this time at an UltraLuxe event which will be held in The Tent@Ngee Ann City. We will share more details closer to the date of the event. We hope you enjoy watching our video clips as much as we enjoy putting them together.
