Education : He helps the girls to have bright future.

Moi worked with the fathers to let the girls to go to school.

It is not an easy task for Moi especially it is in the poor Africa continent.

Do you help better ideas to help the girls to have better education in the world?

There are also floating islands in Cambodia and they are facing the education problems too.

Leave your ideas in the comment section in this blog.

Moi is a male mentor from Kenya and a good example of how working with men, especially fathers, can help reduce educational barriers for girls with disabilities, as it has been the case for his community in Kuria East Sub-County.

Nine out of ten children with disabilities in developing countries are excluded from formal education according to a recent UNGEI and Leonard Cheshire advocacy brief, Leave no girl with disabilities behindDespite having the same rights to education as their male counterparts and non-disabled peers, girls with disabilities make up one of the most excluded groups of learners. This leaves ripple effects for women with disabilities later on in the life cycle, of whom only 1% are literate globally.

As part of a Leonard Cheshire project in Kenya, Moi, alongside 250 other fathers, was trained as a peer mentor as part of a Leonard Cheshire project. Peer mentors then sensitize other men in the community on the rights and needs of girls with disabilities, and in particular their right to benefit from an education.
